Ellis Ocean | Newborn Session

So, 2018 marks ten years since high school graduation. I don't plan to attend the reunion (if there is one.. ?), but I had a little mini reunion of my own! Shealin reached out to me shortly before Ellis was born and we realized that we were friends in high school, but hadn't spoken since. How crazy!?

I usually try to avoid my former classmates (because I was a dork and assume nobody would remember me anyway), but I was definitely looking forward to catching up with Shealin. It's so fun to see the difference 10 years can make. We're both now wives and mothers. Our priorities have changed from trying to fit in and get good grades, to trying to take care of our little families to the best of our abilities. And I have to say, we're both doing a pretty great job!

Silk & Scarlet

Silk & Scarlet has some pretty darn cute baby clothes and accessories. They sent me this adorable dusty rose leotard in exchange for some photos. Ella loved the velvety texture and mama loves the color and open back. This is now available in my studio wardrobe (size 12-18mo).

Valentine's Day | Mini Sessions

New year, new style!

You might notice a little bit of a change around here... my photography is a little different than it was in 2017.

Last year I was really lusting over the "dark and moody" style of editing and studied work by some of my favorite dark and moody photographers (like Jessica Whitaker.... swoon!) This style worked for some of my sessions, like senior portraits and fashion, but I was having a hard time transferring this style to my maternity and newborn work.

I thought long and hard about what style I was really really drawn to and asked myself what style of photography I would want printed for my walls. A few words came to mind: minimal, bright, and white. I always knew that I loved the IG accounts that had a ton of negative white space, but when I started my own photography business I wanted to stay away from that because it seemed too "trendy".

But now, I realize that it doesn't matter if other people are doing it (um hello, tons of people are doing dark and moody, too... so isn't that also trendy?) What matters is that I'm doing a style that I really LOVE and enjoy styling and editing. Minimal is my jam. White is my favorite color. This style was made for me.

So here to introduce my NEW photography style.. Valentine's Day MINIS!

This mini session was not open to the public (sorry peeps!) because I've just been so busy with behind the scenes type stuff. But my next mini event will be open to everyone, so sign up for my newsletter and follow me on FB to be in the know.

PS. This adorable pink lace leotard is in my studio wardrobe!

Camille | Maternity Session

I somehow forgot to blog this session earlier... and now it's coming after I've already shared the newborn photos... BUT this session is just too good not to share!

Camille somehow makes pregnancy look super glamorous. I don't know how she does it! Maybe she gives away some of her secrets on her blog, Life as a Griffin. Beautiful mama and a beautiful family! See the new addition to her family here.

BTW, this white gown is available to rent for my maternity clients and the rental cost is already included in my package!
